Indian Railway Recruitment: Full Exam Pattern of 26000 ALP and Technician Posts

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced 90,000 vacancies out of which 26,502 posts are of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician. The last date to apply for these posts are also 31st March as of Group D posts. Means now only one week is remaining to apply. Many candidates had already applied and many other are remaining. The tentative date of the exam is April/May. That's means Candidates have very less time for their preparation. So, It's very important to understand the exam pattern and the selection process. Then only the preparation plan can be made. Here, understand the exam pattern for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician posts.


Stages in Full Selection Process:

1. First Stage CBT (Computer Based Test)
2. Second Stage CBT (Computer Based Test)
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test
4. Document Verification

There will be common two stage exam (First Stage CBT and Second Stage CBT) for ALP and Technician posts. Candidates qualified in the First Stage CBT only will be called for Second Stage CBT. Those candidates applied for Assistant Loco Pilot will have to appear in the Computer Based Aptitude Test (AT) after qualifying in the Second Stage CBT.

Negative Marking:
There will be negative marking in both First and Second Stages. 1/3 of the marks alloted to that question will be detected for every wrong answer. There will be no negative marking in the Computer Based Aptitude Test.

1. First Stage CBT:

First Stage CBT will be of 1 hour and 75 questions will be asked. To qualify the exam, General category candidates must score 40%, OBC candidates 30%, SC candidates 30% and ST candidates 25%. Candidates have to score minimum qualifying marks in this test otherwise they will be disqualified and cannot appear in the further recruitment process. In this test, questions from Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science and GK/Current Affair will be asked.

2. Second Stage CBT:

The candidates qualifying in the First Stage will be allowed to appear for the Second Stage. This exam will be of 2 hours 30 minutes. The paper will be in two parts. Part A and Part B.
Part A
There will be 90 minutes for Part A in which there will be 100 questions. General candidates must score 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30% and ST 25% to qualify in Part A. Part A consists of questions from Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science And GK/Current Affairs.
Part B
There will be 1 hour for attempting Part B. And total number of questions will be 75. To qualify in Part B, all category of candidates will have to score 35% marks. Part B will consists questions from Trade syllabus.

3. Third Stage:

Third Stage will be only for Assistant Loco Pilot candidates. This stage will be Computer Based Aptitude Test for which 8 times the total vacancy candidates will be called. Candidates scoring sufficient marks in Part A and qualifying marks in Part B of second stage will be called for this stage. In this stage, candidates from any category must score 42 marks. 4. Last Stage will be of Document Verification. This will be for both ALP and Technician posts.

Electronic gadgets like Mobile Phones, Bluetooth, Pen Drive, Laptop, Calculator etc will be prohibited at the exam centers.
